His qualifications in Shipbuilding and hands on experience in the refitting of vessels, ranging from small dinghies to destroyers; illustrates competencies that are invaluable to Marine Vessel Assessments.

As a member of (SAMS®) and recognition for the organizations rigorous vetting process of its members, Ray is required to submit continuous educational units on an annual basis. This continuum of education as a member of SAMS Marine Surveyors® ensures that he is up to date with current regulations; standards and practices.

His experience of the woes and pleasures as a boat owner, has also been his passion over the years.

The trusty tool bag has changed over the years and now consists of a vastly different set of tools. One being the Percussion Hammer; a necessity for ‘sounding’ fiberglass hulls and decks for delamination or voids. We tap the laminate with random soundings around the core of the vessel and other GRP structures. Dead sounding retorts will indicate a void, delamination or separation of the outer fiberglass. The principle here is that entrapped air space blocks the instrument’s signal in the very same way it does with ultra sound.
